St Mellitus College opened its centre in the East Midlands in 2019, after being invited to pioneer full-time context-based ordination training in the region by the dioceses of Southwell & Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. We host both full-time and part-time students, studying towards ordination or a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate theology, ministry and mission programmes.

Key to our partnership with the three dioceses in the East Midlands is building a community of staff and learners who are rooted in the region. We are committed to providing theological study which is both formed by and responds to this particular ministry context.

Our full-time learners gather at Trinity Church in Nottingham on Tuesdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm to worship together, pray and receive teaching. Part-time students meet on Monday evenings at St Martin’s House in Leicester, between 6.30 and 9.15pm. We are excited to be pioneering a hybrid model of part-time ordination training, with teaching delivered some weeks in-person and at other times online.

Our East Midlands centre is led by the Director Revd Dr David Emerton, who is supported by the Assistant Director Revd Jitesh Patel.
