Our centre in the South West was born out of a partnership between St Mellitus College and the dioceses of Exeter and Truro. This innovative collaboration introduced a new model of ordination training to the region for the first time, combining full-time theological learning with on-the-job formation in a local church or ministry placement. We are committed to training leaders in the south west in a way which responds to the particular context of mission in this challenging and exciting region.
Gathering at St Matthias Church in Plymouth on Tuesdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm, our South West community brings together ordinands from across the traditions in the Church of England. We also welcome lay learners and part-time students to share in worship, prayer and study.
Our South West Centre is led by Revd Dr James Harding.
James took up the role of Centre Director 2021, having formerly been the founding Principle of St Paul's Theological College, Malaysia. He has proven experience of creating a vibrant yet rigorous place for students to study theology and is a pioneering and pastoral priest and leader
