Hector’s professional career encompasses working in financial services initially as an investment analyst and then in general management where he held a variety of senior posts including CEO of Credit Suisse Europe. He also worked in the public sector in financial regulation and from 2007 to 2012, was CEO of the Financial Services Authority.
Since leaving full time employment he has worked at Oliver Wyman, the leading management consultancy specialising in governance, risk management and regulation. He also chaired the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Task Group on promoting responsible credit and savings and is now a trustee of its successor organisation, Just Finance Foundation.
Hector is now Chair of the Money & Pensions Service (MaPS) which is accountable to HMT and the DWP. MaPS’ vision statement is “a society where everyone makes the most of their money and pensions”. MaPS provides direct help through funding and leadership in order to achieve its vision.
Hector has also served as a non-executive director of an NHS Trust, was Chair of the Oxford University Business school and been a school governor.
Hector thus brings expertise in finance, governance and educational management along with wider experience gained through his work in the Church of England.
