Serving as the 104th bishop of the See of Canterbury from 2002 to 2012, Bishop Rowan played a pivotal role in the history of the Church of England. Following this, he assumed the position of the 35th Master of Magdalene College, University of Cambridge. He holds the title of Honorary Professor of Contemporary Christian Thought at the University of Cambridge.
During his tenure as the McDonald Professor of Christian Theology at St Mellitus College from 2016 to 2020, he made significant contributions to theological education, inspiring students and fellow academics. His exceptional scholarship extends beyond theology, as he is also a talented poet and translator of poetry. His published works cover a diverse range of subjects, including comprehensive studies on Arius, Teresa of Avila, and Sergii Bulgakov.
